Rimbert, Cousin Oscar (NV)
Rimbert, Cousin Oscar (NV)
REGION: Languedoc-Roussillon
COUNTRY: France
GRAPE(S): Cinsault (organic estate-grown), Pinot Noir (purchased sustainable grapes)
BODY: Light
ABV: 12.5%
TASTING NOTES: The label says it all – you’ll fight over it. Juicy light red with licence to chill. Named after his girlfriend’s cousin Oscar (apparently quite popular with the ladies), the phrase “on se l’arrache” (“we’re fighting over him”) is fitting for this bottle. Extremely quaffable, chillable, and easy-going, this juicy red delivers layers of spice and red berry fruit (raspberry and cherry) .
WINEMAKING NOTES: The grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and undergo a gentle maceration of the grapes without remontage, for 3 days only in order to get only a very little extraction. The wine is spontaneously fermented and then aged in tanks, lightly filtered and fined, and bottled the following spring with a little addition of sulfur. Certified organic.
PAIRS WELL WITH: Perfect for sipping by the fire pit. Great with grilled chicken kebabs, Roasted Beet Salad, Spiced Sweet Potato Hash, Mushroom and spinach quiche, Stuffed Acorn Squash with quinoa, mushrooms and dried cherries. Also, lighter but spiced Indian dishes.
