Friedrich Becker, Pinot Noir Estate Dry (2020)

Friedrich Becker, Pinot Noir Estate Dry (2020)

REGION: Pfalz

COUNTRY: Germany

GRAPE(S): Pinot Noir

BODY: Medium-Light

ABV: 13.5%

TASTING NOTES: This is a very drinkable Pinot with vibrant, sweet fruit and exceptional depth. It presents a pleasant, clear ruby red appearance, and on the nose, it offers enticing aromas of wild berries (raspberry and strawberry), tobacco, spices, and earthy notes of the forest floor. On the palate, it’s juicy with bright flavors of cranberry, followed by clove and cinnamon spice on the mid-palate. The wine is balanced with medium to low acidity and finishes with good length and structure.

WINEMAKING NOTES:  The soils consist of rare (for the area) limestone with a clay/loam mix. The vines are between 20 and 45 years old. The grapes for the 2020 vintage were hand-harvested and de-stemmed before pressing. The grapes were then macerated for 14 to 21 days to extract all the flavors and aromas from the grape-skins into the juice. The juice was fermented in large and small French oak barrels then left on the lees for almost 12 months in the same oak barrels.

PAIRS WELL WITH: Roast Duck
