Bosman Family Vineyards, Generation 8 Cabernet Sauvignon (2024)
REGION: Wellington, Western Cape
COUNTRY: South Africa
GRAPE(S): 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
BODY: Full
ABV: 13.8%
TASTING NOTES: A bouquet of black fruit, particularly black currant and dark cherry, with subtle hints of violets and chocolate. A smooth, rounded mouthfeel with soft velvety tannins and a lingering finish of blackberries and warm spice.
WINEMAKING NOTES: Grapes are hand-harvested and de-stemmed before fermentation.
For the extraction of color, pump-overs and punch downs were executed during fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Before alcoholic fermentation is complete, the must is pressed to ensure that the tannin expression is fine and subtle. A portion of the wine is
matured in French oak for 4 months. Biodiversity conservationism (BWI), solar panels, minimal pesticide use (IPW). Vegan.
FUN FACT: Fair Trade accredited, employee empowerment. In 2008 the family provided their workers with a 26% share of the business and land.
PAIRS WELL WITH: A juicy steak, hearty beef casseroles, mushroom ragout, roast lamb, grilled burgers or beef tacos. Also, a cozy fireside in the wintertime.
